We purchased Toby after Jake died. Toby was going to be our first therapy dog. Little did we know he would need the therapy. He had severe hip dysplasia @ the age of 9 months, and had TPO surgery. He was good for about 2 years and then began to struggle with his mobility. We had to let him cross the rainbow bridge at almost 4 years of age. Because of Toby we learned the importance of researching and questioning breeders about everything, especially health testing. Toby was our special boy we loved him dearly and still miss him. Please read his story on Louise Yeisler's site "A Good Look At Mastiffs:.
He was our first Mastiff, actually he was my first dog. We bought him in Feb. 1990. He truly was and English gentleman, well mannered and always obedient. I don't ever remember him being a bad boy. All three of our children grew up with him. Hew died at the age of 11. Our children at that time were 13, 11 and 7 years old. Our hearts were broken when he died. Jake taught us that the English Mastiff is a loyal, noble, loving , kind and gentle companion. We knew we would never be with out one or more of these wonderful dogs.
